Serie A Table and Results after Matchday 2

How does the Serie A table look after Sunday's Matchday 2 results?

-

Matchday 2 of the 2022/23 Serie A season has seen some big results and games played, and Inter sit alongside Napoli at the top of the table after their wins over Spezia and Monza respectively.

There were four games in all on Saturday, with Torino and Lazio playing out a scoreless draw at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, as did Udinese and Salernitana in Friuli-Venezia Giulia.

Inter’s 3-0 win came courtesy of goals from Lautaro MartinezHakan Calhanoglu and Joaquin Correa, and Romelu Lukaku had a hand in the result despite not scoring himself.

Alongside Inter beating Spezia in the late set of fixtures, a stunning volley from Domenico Berardi saw Sassuolo claim a 1-0 win over Lecce at the Mapei Stadium. The Salento-based side had started well and troubled Andrea Consigli’s goal, but Berardi just had a bit of class that was otherwise missing on the night.

The standout fixture of Serie A’s Matchday 2 came in Bergamo in Atalanta vs AC Milan. Although the hosts took the lead through Ruslan Malinovskyi, the Italian champions fought back with a second-half leveller from Ismael Bennacer in a 1-1 draw.

Also on Sunday, Napoli beat Monza 4-0, Empoli and Fiorentina drew 0-0 in Tuscany, and Bologna drew 1-1 with Hellas Verona.

Monday’s games continued with the trend of not exactly being goal filled. Roma beat Cremonese 1-0 and Juventus were unable to break Sampdoria down, drawing 0-0 at Marassi.
