The 2023/24 Serie A season is underway, and defending champions Napoli started with three points away at Frosinone despite having fallen behind early on at the Stadio Benito Stirpe. Challengers Inter beat Monza 2-0 at home to also start on the right foot.

Elsewhere on Saturday, the opening day, newcomers Genoa were hammered 4-1 at home by Fiorentina and Hellas Verona beat Empoli 1-0 in what may well be seen as a key result in the battle against the drop come the end of the season.

Sunday’s early games saw Atalanta win 2-0 away at Sassuolo with a debut goal from Charles De Ketelaere, and a 2-2 draw between AS Roma and Salernitana in which Andrea Belotti and Antonio Candreva each scored twice.

There was a late turnaround in Salento as Lecce beat Lazio 2-1, whilst Juventus were dominant away against Udinese, winning 3-0. Monday night’s action saw a 0-0 draw between Torino and Cagliari, and then AC Milan impressed as they beat Bologna 2-0 away from home.
