Both the race for European football and the battle to avoid relegation intensified on Matchday 24 of the 2023/24 Serie A season, in a weekend that was packed full of goals.

The big losers when it comes to the continental battle were AS Roma and Napoli, as they were beaten by Inter and AC Milan respectively.

Their losses were compounded by the fact that Atalanta beat Genoa 4-1, Fiorentina beat Frosinone 5-1, Lazio won 2-1 away at Cagliari and Bologna were 4-0 winners over Lecce.

The win for Milan means they are just one point behind Juventus, with the Bianconeri facing Udinese in their game in hand on Monday night.

Down at the bottom, Salernitana were cut further adrift as they lost 3-1 at home to Empoli, a result that saw Pippo Inzaghi lose his job. The Azzurri are up to 15th now under Davide Nicola, but both Verona and Sassuolo picked up a point each against Monza and Torino respectively.

On Monday night, Juventus were beaten 1-0 by Udinese, putting Inter even firmly in position to win the Serie A title.
