Serie A table after Matchday 27

Wins for Hellas Verona and Cagliari on Matchday 27 of the 2023/24 Serie A season resulted in Sassuolo dropping to 19th, as the battle to avoid relegation heats up.

The fight to remain in Serie A heated up on Matchday 27 of the 2023/24 campaign with a number of significant results for those battling at the bottom of the standings, with wins for Hellas Verona and Cagliari.

However, AC Milan and Bologna remained in the last two Champions League qualification places with narrow wins over Lazio and Atalanta respectively. The latter allow AS Roma to leapfrog La Dea into fifth spot with a 4-1 win away at Monza.

Sassuolo, who once found themselves challenging for European qualification, are in serious trouble after dropping to second from bottom, after a late 1-0 defeat to fellow struggles Verona.

Cagliari remained on equal points with the Mastini after their own late show against Empoli, with Jakub Jankto scoring his first goal for the club sealing victory, but remain firmly in the relegation zone.

Napoli also took a step up the standings into on Sunday night seventh, ahead of Fiorentina, with a late win over Juventus at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

Inter wrapped up the action with a tight 2-1 win over Genoa, as the Nerazzurri took another step towards the Serie A title.
