Serie A Matchday 12 saw a huge amount of action on Saturday and Sunday for a set of fixtures that didn’t pit any of the top sides against each other. AC Milan lost ground to Napoli at the top whilst Lazio’s top-four hopes took a hit as AS Roma took their place by beating Verona.

League leaders Napoli now have a five-point lead after they beat Sassuolo 4-0 thanks to a hat-trick from Nigerian forward Victor Osimhen. The extension of the lead is because AC Milan suffered a shock 2-1 defeat away at Torino on Sunday night.

Atalanta moved to second after beating Empoli 2-0 at the Stadio Carlo Castellani, and Lazio lost ground as they were stunned 3-1 by Salernitana at the Stadio Olimpico in Rome.

There were also wins for Juventus against Lecce and Inter against Sampdoria to help them climb closer to the top of the table.

Further down, Cremonese drew with Udinese and Fiorentina won away at Spezia. The matchday will be complete on Monday night when AS Roma travel to Verona and Monza host Bologna.
