There were some surprising results at the top of the Serie A table early in the weekend on Matchday 25 with both Napoli and AC Milan suffering unexpected defeats. There was also a huge result for AS Roma against Juventus.
The league leaders had a chance to move 21 points clear of the competition when they took on Lazio at the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona on Friday night. They were stunned by Lazio’s intensity though and were beaten 1-0.
After a win for Monza over Empoli and a 0-0 draw between Atalanta and Udinese, Fiorentina got the better of AC Milan who saw their winning run come to an end on Saturday night.
Sunday began with 0-0 draws between Spezia and Verona and then Sampdoria and Salernitana, followed by a comfortable 2-0 win for Inter at home to Lecce.
Sunday evening’s match saw Roma beat Juventus 1-0 thanks to a superb strike from Gianluca Mancini.
