Udinese 1-2 AS Roma: Goals, highlights and report – Serie A 2023/24

Playing out the final 18 minutes of their Serie A clash with Udinese after it was suspended due to Evan Ndicka's collapse 11 days ago, AS Roma snatched a late win through Bryan Cristante.

AS Roma snatched a 2-1 victory over Udinese at the death in Matchday 32 of Serie A, in a fixture that was suspended on April 14 due to the on-field collapse of defender Evan Ndicka.

Udinese took the lead midway through the first half thanks to some disastrous defending from Dean Huijsen, as the centre-back misjudged a header to release Roberto Pereyra and the Zebrette captain bundled in. Roma struck back in the second half as Romelu Lukaku met a wonderful Bryan Cristante cross to nod home.

However, play was brought to a halt when Ndicka fell to the ground and the decision was taken to suspend proceedings for 11 days, with the final 18 minutes of the game played out on April 25. The Ivorian international has since made a recovery and has returned to training, but was unavailable in Udine. With Roma pressing for a winner in the short amount of time available, Cristante nodded home with the final touch from a corner deep into stoppage time to give Daniele De Rossi‘s side a crucial three points.

The win sees Roma move to within four points of Bologna in fourth, whilst Udinese remain 17th and only out of the relegation zone due to a superior goal difference to Frosinone.
