Matchday 13 of this 2023/24 Women’s Serie A season finally saw champions AS Roma not only fail to win for the first time this term, but the Giallorosse even fell to a humbling defeat away at Inter. That loss opened the door for Juventus to close the gap at the top of the table to just three points, which they duly did by beating a stubborn Sassuolo the next day.

Inter were powered on to victory thanks to some excellent individual performances, namely from Katie Bowen, Lisa Alborghetti and Sofie Junge Pederson.

While Juventus managed to win late on at Sassuolo, they were very nearly heading back to Turin frustrated thanks to a near-perfect performance from Neroverdi goalkeeper Solene Durand, but Joe Echegini scored a late winner from the bench to give Estelle Cascarino and Julia Grosso the three points their flawless performances warranted.

So impressive was Durand in goal for Sassuolo that she, even despite the late loss, earned our Women’s Serie A Player of the Week prize as well.

On Monday night and closing out the weekend’s games, AC Milan finally managed to win but remain third-from-bottom in the table, with Marta Mascarello and Andrea Staskova their goalscorers in a 3-2 win at home to Como Women.

Elsewhere, Sampdoria and Napoli Femminile played out a goalless draw and Fiorentina beat Pomigliano 3-1.
