Having seen their lead at the top of the Women’s Serie A table reduced a week earlier, champions AS Roma were again able to pull further clear of Juventus on Matchday 14 with a textbook 2-0 win over Fiorentina while the Bianconere and Viola – sat second and third – drew 2-2 in Biella.
Elena Linari scored her sixth Serie A goal of the season from defence to set the Giallorosse on their way, and Giada Greggi then sealed the points by sweeping home their second in the second half. Both earned a place in our Team of the Week.
That win saw Roma extend their lead at the top to five points as Juventus and Fiorentina drew 2-2, with Madelen Janogy putting the Viola ahead twice only for the Bianconere to fight back. Janogy‘s brace saw her excellent start to life in Italy continue and earned her our Women’s Serie A Player of the Week prize as well.
Katja Schroffenegger stole the headlines in Biella though, making a series of top stops to keep Juventus out, though Julia Grosso did manage a goal and assist which also saw her force her way into this Women’s Serie A Team of the Week.
Elsewhere, Lina Magull and Eli del Estal were both in fine form as Inter beat Napoli Femminile 3-2. Away at Como Women, Lana Clelland came off the bench to seal three big points for Sassuolo, while Caroline Pleidrup and Maria Luisa Filangeri kept things tight at the back.
