Women’s Serie A 2023/24: Team and Player of the Week – Matchday 19

Women's Serie A is back with Matchday 19 seeing some superb individual performances, none more so than Sampdoria's Victoria DellaPeruta who is our Player of the Week. She also leads the Team of the Week with two of her Sampdoria teammates.

Women’s Serie A returned at the weekend for Matchday 19, the first since the table was split into the Poule Scudetto and the Poule Salvezza. That meant only four games took place, with AC Milan and AS Roma both enjoying an extra week off before their seasons resume.

Perhaps the happiest team from Matchday 19‘s action will be Sampdoria, as they thumped Pomigliano 5-0. The scoring was opened by an own goal but it soon became the Victoria DellaPeruta show, as she bagged the other four goals. Elisabetta Oliviero impressed at left-back, whilst Rachel Cuschieri grabbed two assists.

It was also a great week for Sassuolo, as Chiara Beccari‘s late goal secured a surprising, but deserved, 1-0 win over Fiorentina. Solene Durand was excellent in goal, whilst Benedetta Orsi put in a great defensive performance to earn a place in the Team of the Week.

The Derby d’Italia between Inter and Juventus ended 3-3, with Lindsey Thomas and Arianna Caruso impressing for the Bianconere. Henrietta Csiszar was excellent in midfield for Inter. Finally, Danielle Cox made a good return from injury for Como in their 1-1 draw with Napoli, whilst Mina Bergersen also impressed.

Here is the Women’s Serie A Team of the Week for Serie A Matchday 19, which is deployed in a 4-2-4 formation. Let us know your thoughts!

Women’s Serie A Matchday 19 Team of the Week: Solene Durand; Mina Bergersen, Benedetta Orsi, Danielle Cox, Elisabetta Oliviero; Henrietta Csiszar, Arianna Caruso; Lindsey Thomas, Chiara Beccari, Victoria DellaPeruta, Rachel Cuschieri.

Women’s Serie A 23/24 – Matchday 19 Player of the Week

It was clear early in the weekend that Victoria DellaPeruta was going to be the Matchday 19 Player of the Week. Scoring four goals in a 5-0 win does make you a shoo-in, and it seems she could be key to Sampdoria‘s attempts to finish top of the Poule Salvezza.

She only had one goal in four appearances this season, but now she is among Sampdoria‘s leading scorers. DellaPeruta produced a series of instinctive finishes that really put a sorry Pomigliano team to the sword.

DellaPeruta signed for Sampdoria in January along with her sister Talia. The pair were born and raised in the United States of America but Victoria is involved in the Azzurre youth teams. At 19 years old, she may have been a smart pick-up by Sampdoria if they manage her talent correctly.
